[ubuntu-za] Electrical Design Software/GIS/iTunes

Dear all.

This forum is really useful and resourceful.

I thank William Kinghorn, Jan Groenewald & Clinton Bester for input on
electrical control panel software - QCAD is nice and quick and has plenty of
electrical symbols.

I used to use PCAD in the 1990's for circuit design and PCB layout and was
quite familiar with it. I see that the Ubuntu Software Centre has other
electronic/electric schematic diagram software too - was just too much to
download at that time on a mobile connection but will look at it.

Had a look at UES briefly and think will definitely give that a go too. The
only thing about QCAD: Does it have map datum and projection capability -
this since I am a GIS practitioner and would like to have a CAD package that
interfaces with QGIS, Kosmo GIS and gvSIG (open source GIS software).

I am also very familiar with ESRI ArcGIS and want to know if anyone has
succesfully used it natively under Ubuntu 10.10 without WINE or Virtual Box?

Has anyone synched an iPhone under Linux/Ubuntu without iTunes. iTunes is
currently what I use under Virtual Box with WinXP.

Thanks a lot for all the help.....
