Hey Dave
Its always a good idea to have a backup of your system - especially if its
all set up and working nicely :) Why not use clonezilla (www.clonezilla.org)
to make a complete clone of your system and that way you can try 9.10, but
if you not happy or you ever want to switch back, all you have to to is
re-image you hdd with your old image.
Otherwise you could always try 9.10 in a virtualbox, although i know its not
quite the same :)
