Thanks so much for your reply and help.
I looked at your instructions on using rysnc, as well as the ubuntu
article's and down-loaded grysnc.
Grysnc doesn't appear to allow one to exclude files, ie media, tmp,
proc, var/backup, but this is not a serious problem.
I would imagine that rysnc probably has this option, so maybe it's time
to start a bit more in-depth learning about linux,(this, I would say, is
not a bad thing?) and stop behaving like a windows user :-)
