yes you should remove them first. However if 71 is in the repo for 9.04
use that, it should solve your problem. 71 is not in the 9.10 repo's and
the only option is to install the driver from nvidia if you want
hardware accelerated graphics in 9.10 for the TNT2

9.10 works very well, for me and some of my friends it works better than
9.04.
