Welcome! I hope we can help you find all the answers you need.

This is usually a touchy subject, depending on the zeal of your
audience. It really comes down to personal preference more than anything
else. Personally I prefer Gnome, but I still wish there was anything as
wonderful as BasKet and amaroK for Gnome.

I would echo the use of a database server (such as MySQL) as back-end.

No idea, but please let us know what your experiences are if you decide
to install (K)Ubuntu on it.

I have just confirmed the venue, so we'll make it 12:30 for 13:00,
although no-one will close the doors if you come later. ;) There are no
costs involved except for those that you incur on yourself (food and
drinks). There will also be power available for your laptop.

So far no-one has volunteered to provide CDs, but I'm sure someone will
have a CD/DVD writer there that you can use to write the ISOs you want.
You will just have to provide your CDs/DVDs then.

I'll post these details on the release party's thread as well. Let me
know if you need any further details.

Regards,
