There's a big debate within OSM about the new license with many people
saying we should go PD. Whatever the new license, it will allow :
* distribution without fee
* commercial use
* distribution of modified versions.
Which is still quite "free".
You can distribute SA maps either
* in OSM format e.g. from http://download.cloudmade.com/. Then compile it
into gosmore format before running the application. This takes roughly 2
minutes on most computers.
* in gosmore format. It is not "endian" safe, so you'll need one package for
Intel/AMD/ARM and one for PPC etc. To avoid problems, make sure the gosmore
data and gosmore binary are derived from the same source.
The gosmore debian package is somewhat out of date. The latest SVN version
uses transparent icons which looks a lot better.
