Could someone please help me to get my desktop modem working.
I ran pppoeconf and everything seemed to go well,and I got the message
"Plugin rp-pppoe.so loaded."
The network icon shows "no network connection", and clicking on "Dial up
connections" and selecting "connect to dsl-provider via modem" has no
effect.
Running ifconfig gives:
rob at ubuntu:~$ ifconfig

using ifconfig ppp0 gives:
rob at ubuntu:~$ ifconfig ppp0
ppp0: error fetching interface information: Device not found
And I tried the following:
rob at ubuntu:~$ plog /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider
May 5 20:12:34 ubuntu pppd[6210]: Connect: ppp0 <--> eth0
May 5 20:12:34 ubuntu pppd[6210]: Warning - secret

And I tried:

No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.
I really don't know the significance, if any, of all this, but I decided
to provide as much info as I know how.
Of course I get no joy from the iBurst "Customer Care"
Please help.
