[ubuntu-za] My switch story

For years I've dabbled - on and off - with various distros of Linux. It
must've been about 9 years ago when I had my first encounter.

Since then, however, I've remained (primarily) a windows user. Earlier this
year, I decided it was time to get reacquainted. I downloaded 7.04 beta
and, am proud to say, haven't looked back. My home PC still has windows
installed, but to give some indication of just how 'switched over' I am,
consider the following: I installed both OS' at the same time. I never
bothered to activate windows. The other day, upon trying to boot up Vista,
I was unable to as the activation period had expired! (I'm still able to,
but I figured, why bother?)

I find the following software quite suitable for my needs:

Anjuta IDE
BMP
Firefox
Gaim
OpenOffice
Tomboy Notes
Xine

Beryl is great, and leaves Vista looking very bland. And it looks great in
a multi-head configuration! I was also very pleasantly surprised at just
how easy life has become. Best thing, for me though, is the amount of
support available. Fantastic!

Den.
