Hi all,
First of all apologies well in advance. I am running hardy
which is in pre-alpha so the possibility that whatever I am
experiencing (inconsistency) is to be expected. But still just for the
record, I have been having
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/163985 so if
somebody wants to me try out some stuff I'm game.
While doing investigations on the same I instinctively also thought
about understanding the acpi-support as that was also one of the
packages which got upgraded recently. Much to my surprise, amazement
or horror, acpi-support is a package which is basically for LCD panels
which is necessary dependancy or ubuntu-desktop, xubuntu-desktop &
power-management packages. Shouldn't finding whether acpi-support (the
package) is needed at all or not should be handled by something like
upstart (finding things on the fly) and accordingly install or not
install it. I have also put that as a bug
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+bug/164001
although its more of a question.
Any ideas, suggestions or flames on either will be much appreciated.
