Hi Emma,
I think you handled the matter as diplomatically as was possible given that
the person using the nick "stupidgirl" was indeed a girl. I think that by
explaining to individuals who use female derogatory nicks that doing so is
hurtful and counterproductive to the other female ubuntu community members.
Then point them to the ubuntu-women website.
As for the ops channel response, not wanting to ban the nick I think is
valid, characterizing you as "emotional" is uncalled for. You had every
right to make the inquiry without being labeled. How do you shake the label?
I'm not sure, but time will tell.
