refresh needed to run Ubuntu 22.04 in high-res terminal mode

Hello,
part for practical reasons, part for sheer nostalgia of the good old times, I'd need to spend some days in terminal mode with the likes of tmux, mutt, mc... without any GUI, but at high definition.
this is one of those things that I KNEW and did regularly... enough years ago that I'd really appreciate a pointer to the right docs, commands, tips to do it again in 2023. Namely, how would I set up Ubuntu 22.04 LTS : 
- to run in CONSOLE mode, at 1680 x 1050 resolution as I do in normal GUI mode
- take full screenshots while in that mode
