Pretty much the same in the US.

The US is mostly "fast and loose" with its permitting process mainly
due to constitutional rights.
In the US, gun deaths are dominated by suicide, not homicide. If the
US solved its healthcare problems, then many firearms deaths would be
avoided. I think it's a problem of recognizing that some things don't
work well in a capitalistic model. You can't have quality universal
healthcare in a capitalistic model, just like you can't develop new
antibiotics in a capitalistic model.
