If you are not already using nodejs and npm then there doesn't seem
much point doing it that way. I use npm all the time for other stuff
that uses nodejs so for me that would be the obvious way.
Otherwise this does look like an ideal candidate for using Docker. It
is a pity there is not a snap package, that would have saved you
installing docker.
