Hi,
Little Girl suggested "AIRA and Be My Eyes".
On my iPad Pro I installed Seeing AI, Talking Camera for the Blind,
Microsoft Corporation, the link to the app is
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/seeing-ai/id999062298 . It's for free as
in beer.
For testing purpose I run
$ ls -hAl
in my home directory and after that I tested log files by running
# journalctl -b
and
# cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
At best Seeing AI doesn't recognise important parts, but reads
everything, but it also tends to miss parts of the screen already, if a
seeing person aligns the camera perfectly to the display.
Listening to Seeing AI when reading this email is a pleasure, but
listening to it, when it reads command line output is terrible.
However, a braille display probably helps when using a ncurses
installer. I wonder if it still exists.
I've got no clue, if it's possible to install Ubuntu aside of Windows
11, without the help of somebody to do BIOS settings.
Since the OP asked, yes, Ubuntu provides an installer, but I don't know
much about the installer or installers that are currently provided by
Ubuntu flavours.
Too long, didn't read:
https://www.minitool.com/partition-disk/windows-11-and-linux-dual-boot.html
I guess that just typing the text of the illustrations isn't very
helpful. Using an USB stick is probably not a good idea, since this for
sure requires to change BIOS settings, while using a DVD might work
without any changes to the BIOS settings.
In this
linkĀ https://amp.bipmedia.com/blog/tutorial/how-to-install-ubuntu-with-screen-reading-support
it's mentioned "After you burn the Ubuntu DVD image to your USB stick,
reboot your computer, and make sure you have USB as the 1st boot device
set in your BIOS system." Second, does Orca only speak or can it
redirect output to a braille display?
Does the BIOS provide any accessibility at all?
Regards,
Ralf
