Yes of course, the disk itself is fine and now contains a LinuxMint-Cinnamon
installation.
What happened was that I assumed it would create a "dualboot" on the disk and
use unpartitioned space for its install. Instead it erased the whole disk and
installed a system that would not boot.
The previous install had been done on the disk by desktop installs and they all
booted OK and had an EFI part of the disk.
When the second system was put on then it booted to the grub boot menu and I
could select which to run.

But not after installing server on the disk in a location I assumed would be on
free space (there was lots of that, like 170 GB).
Anyway it is now lost and I am using the new system now.

To get away from the reboots I have configured Mint to boot into the system and
log me on automatically. The reboots only ever happened while I was stalled on
the login screen.

I have also made a dummy monitor using a DisplayPort-VGA adapter and 3
resistors. Works well and I can now start using the system as intended (actually
start configuring it that way).
