I keep digging and keep finding more stuff (sorry)

It appears according to the Ubuntu Handbook (last updated June 14, 2020)
HPLIP 3.20.5 added new devices support among others for HP ENVY 6000 
series and provides instructions for installation. So I am going to do that.
