I have done some more investigation and have discovered that lsusb shows
among others:
Bus 002 Device 004 ID 03f0:3454 HP, Inc ENVY 6000 series
and sane-find-scanner shows among others:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0, product=0x3454) at libusb:002:004
Yet simple-scan fails to find a scanner
Reports:
No scanners detected
please check your scanner is connected and powered on
It is and I can print from it.
Ideas???
