JFTR 21.04 does not provide the proprietary nvidia driver anymore.

The https://packages.ubuntu.com/hirsute/nvidia-340 package for 21.04 is
a transitional package not providing the proprietary nvidia driver, it
provides the xorg nouveau driver instead.

Debian claims that the nvida driver supports "GeForce 8300 [C77],

IOW the proprietary driver as well as the FLOSS driver should support
current X11 based Linux installs.
