this is great and i'm happy you found a distro that suits you, yet
nobody in here knows which patches were added to your ...
... say libgtk-3-0 binaries without changing the version number or
mentioning the change in the package changelog (mint has tradiotionally
done such things for their cinnamon changes that upstream refused to
take) installed from some overlay archive linuxmint provides, so if
thigs using this lib mis-behave on your system when using packages from
the ubuntu archive, trying to help with them here, where nobody knows
about these mint specific chages is a waste of time for all sides, you
wont get a fix, we wont be able to help. simply because we do not know
about mints changes.
ubuntu has its flavours for exactly that reason, you have a guaranteed,
predictable and identical package base because all packages come from
the ubuntu archive unmodified for all known flavours ... mint could
have gone the same path as kubuntu, xubuntu, lubuntu, zorin, baltix,
you name it ... in fact they have been asked if they would like to in
the past but refused ...
