What to do with OLD nvidia

Thanks I just know that with the default install - and loading the
nvidia-340 driver it was working.
then I did hte linux-generic-hwe.20.04 and rebooted and X would no longer
start.

Some searching showed that NVIDIA no longer supports the 340 driver after
5.8
My Unit is also in that vintage but GT218 ION . Perhaps that is the
difference.
