This worked for me on 20.04, 21.04 and after an accidental upgrade to 21.10 
(whuch I cant esplain)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kelebek333/nvidia-legacy
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install xorg-modulepath-fix
