well, it is a data logger for seismic data,  there's "no one on it ", 
there i nothing critically important stored on it (it is an RPI4) so I 
am not too worried about security.

Actually 'anything' I can turnof that saves cycles, I would just turn 
off., even the firewall, if needed.

I did do a bunch of debugging, it seems that the issue is with some curl 
functions,  for some reson  the url, the hostname, seems to not resolve 
every so much time.
