Yes.

Basically, clean up Win7. Make sure you have plenty of free disk space
on your Windows drive/partition.

I'd recommend at least 25-30GB for the upgrade.

You can download the ISO directly from www.microsoft.com, in Windows
or in Ubuntu.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10ISO

If you download from Ubuntu, copy it to your Windows drive, then write
it onto a USB key using Rufus.

If you want to be extra sure, and you do not have your Windows 7 key
on a sticker or something, you can extract the key from an existing
installed copy of Windows 7 using Produkey:

https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

Both Rufus and Produkey are completely free.

If you download Win10 with Windows itself, it will download a tool
called the "Windows Media Creator" first. This should then
automatically offer to do the upgrade for you.

I wrote a blog post about how to clean up Windows:

The only caveats I could give you are these.

• Make sure you have a bootable working Ubuntu USB key (or DVD)
*first*, before you begin.

• I found that I needed to remove Ubuntu's GRUB and replace the
Windows boot loader for the upgrade to proceed.

Here is how to do that:

After you install Win10, you can replace the Ubuntu GRUB bootloader
using your live USB key/DVD. Here is how:

I am guessing you mean 500 *GB* Windows partition? I don't think you
can fit Win7 into half a gigabyte.

Well, the steps are in this email. If it all sounds a bit much for
you, well, I understand, but I don't think anyone could make it much
easier.
