On my Ubuntu 19.10 laptop it doesn't do that. I installed from the very
latest .deb file on zoom.us/download ... And it's a good thing because you
can only have one instance logged in running at a time so if it did start,
it would kick me out of my desktop immediately.

Make sure it's not in the Startup Applications settings of your machine (I
have Solaar - for logitech mice and keyboards, Skype,Dropbox, Jammi and
Remmina in there you might have Zoom too). I don't remember having to
remove it but it was some time ago.

Zoom doesn't stick around and send stuff for you... at least not on my
machine, not on my kids Ubuntu desktop, and not on the Ubuntu desktop I
configured for my parents... :)
