Trying to open Different Flavors was Running Gnome or Mate or other desktops

If the new flavours don't show up in the selection, you may have 
installed them incomplete. You should install the *-desktop packages for 
the flavours you want to install. For the three flavours you mentioned 
in a previous mail, that would be 

ubuntu-mate-desktop
ubuntu-gnome-desktop
lubuntu-desktop

To verify that it works, I just installed lubuntu-desktop and at the 
sddm login screen I could select the several new session types (lubuntu, 
lubuntu netbook, lxde, openbox) in the way you described above.
