Enable folder pane in Thunderbird:

1. Open Thunderbird menu. It's an icon with three horizontal lines.
2. Navigate to "Options" -> "Layout".
3. Check the option "Folder pane".

OR

1. Press "Alt"-key. A menu toolbar pops up with "file", "edit", "view" etc.
2. Navigate to "View" -> "Layout".
3. Check the option "Folder pane".
