[URGENT] How Do I Fix Thunderbird Email Client User Profile Corruption?

Thank you very much for your prompt and timely replies.

I think I have solved the problem. The culprit is the file prefs.js in
my second Thunderbird user profile. It appears to be a newly created
file with the time stamp 7 October 2015 7:35 PM Singapore Time. I do
not know why this file prefs.js in my 2nd Thunderbird user profile is
newly created but it is certainly corrupted. Maybe Singapore
Government hackers hacked into my Lubuntu 15.10 Linux virtual machine
and tampered with or modified the file prefs.js. I have renamed the
corrupted file prefs.js to prefs.js.7oct2015 for further examination.

Fortunately I still have an older file prefs-1.js with the time stamp
6 Aug 2013 Singapore Time. I renamed the older file prefs-1.js to
prefs.js in my 2nd Thunderbird user profile and restarted Thunderbird.
Finally the folder pane on the left shows up. I have solved the
problem!

How can I prevent the corruption of the file prefs.js in future? By
the way, I think a few recently added email accounts are missing from
the folder pane on the left because I used an older prefs.js with the
time stamp 6 Aug 2013 Singapore Time. If I need the recently added
email accounts to appear in the folder pane on the left, I would have
to use the corrupted newly created prefs.js with the time stamp 7 Oct
2015 7:35 PM Singapore Time. But I do not know how to repair the
corrupted prefs.js which is newer.
