Nullifying requirement to reboot after kernel update

Maybe my question was vague Tony, I don't want to boot into the newest
Ubuntu kernel at all, but stay with the one I'm running now
4.0.0-997-generic #201503310205 SMP Tue Mar 31 02:07:04 UTC 2015 or if a
video lockup does occur with the error as shown in the bug report I
linked to in my post to Gene I'll boot into the kernel I'm currently
running or into a newer version of the drm-intel kernel if requested to.

I guess the bottom line is - quit nagging me that a reboot is required,
I don't want to.

Hopefully this is a bit clearer.
