Weird LibreOffice behavior during latest kernel update

Last night while I was doing the update for the newest kernel, I was
also trying to run LibreOffice to look at some files.  While the
update was running, and after the update finished, LO was getting
"corrupt" file error on everything, even the templates.

I've never sen that happen before, and one of the LO folks said it was
probably a side-effect of the kernel disk file changes.

Does that make sense?  I'm not sure how, but it seems to.
