Window 8 in efi mode and Ubuntu in legacy bios mode

I used Win 8 to make the recovery dvd's so I should be ok there.

I haven't actually tried to install Ubuntu yet.  It is sitting at the 
live dvd desktop waiting for me to gather info so maybe I can be 
successful.  I did run the install program and run it right up th where 
it would start making changes to the HD just to see if it would run. 
The last time I tried this the install program would not start.

I read Colin's post with great interest and once I have a chance to try 
to understand all he said I probably will come back with a couple of 
questions.
