Best way to handle big music collection?

I probably don't belong to the target group, but I only use the file
system. I use FLAC files exclusively and I tag them with my own
scripts using yad or zenity or gtkdialog as UI. I play my files with
Audacious or just Totem or whatever. I hate those programs like
Rhythmbox, Amarok, Banshee or whatever they are called, or at least I
don't see the point using them.

Probably not helpful; I just felt like typing…
