Best way to handle big music collection?

A use Exaile in XFCE, which is an Amarok "clone" before Amarok got so
bloated IMHO. You setup a "collection" by pointing it to a folder or folder
and it scans them and organizes everything by tags. For example, I have
everything in a folder called music, which is then sorted by artist\album.
It doesn't matter your organization though because you can just point it
at the "music" folder and it will figure out the rest. Then you can just
type in the search box a song name, artist name, etc. and it will pull up
matching results. Playlists are easy, it is easy to find and play files
not in your collection and doesn't mess with your music files, so if you
stop using it tomorrow, everything is still as it was.

It is also easy to edit the tags from within the program so if all their
files aren't tagged, you can fix them up pretty easily. It saves the meta
data in standard formats (depending on file type) so if you change programs
or transfer the files, odds are other programs/systems will be able to read
them.
