In /etc/fstab each line ends with two numbers. The second is whether
to run a fsck on that volume at boot or not - set this to '1' on any
volume that must pass a fsck in order for the machine to boot.

Normally you'd configure the UPS to send a signal to the server when
the power is cut (via serial or USB perhaps), and configure the server
to initiate a clean shutdown on receiving that signal.
