Sorry, I missed your question earlier.

My answer is: I don't really know as I don't run Ubuntu (as I have 
mentioned many times) but the Main Installer package contains a number 
of desktop-integration files to suit the distro you are using so I 
cannot see this as a problem.

The only possible hassle would be that the command to launch the general 
menu, from which you then select Writer or Impress of Database and so 
on, is 'libreofficeX.X %U' [where X.X is the version number of the 
installed LO) and so one would need to alter this X.X to be the version 
# of the LO you just installed.

 From memory, the version # of LO which comes installed as part of the 
last release of the distro is 3.6.4, or something, so I had to change 
the launch command to read 'libreoffice4.0 %U' to run LO 4.0.0.3.
