what extensions are you using?

the script error is a known anomaly generally caused by an extension - 
don't know if that interfered with your messages, though, but if you 
have some mail extension installed, it may.

you may be better off creating a new profile deom scratch and moving 
important data over piece by piece - and I don't believe that Message 
view is needed on the menu - I've not  used it.
