Every package on the Ubuntu CD is built by the Ubuntu build bots. It's
not a case of branding the product. We build packages so we can ensure
they work in our environment, allow for bug and security updates, and
are signed by our keys.

Personally I prefer to get my packages from the Ubuntu repo, not
upstream. You may not, and that's fine, it's your system.
