I have been using remastersys with great success
http://geekconnection.org/remastersys/
You can use fsarchiver available on the systemrescuecd (
http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page). You can save your filesystem and restore it
on another machine, partition, etc ... Particularly useful if you use ext4.
