You know, you're right. I was thinking 'Native IDE' which is a more common
option. With the equipment I work with, AHCI is what it's called rather than
Native Sata.

And after googling, I see that Intel can recommend enabling RAID mode to
give the user more options, but I think that's a bit useless for Linux.

No other manufacturer I've seen recommends that, and I don't see the use
other than it enables AHCI.

However, I'll have to give it a try in the next few days.
