I had a GeForce 7600 GS which was the card Ubuntu's proprietary
software fetcher set up for me. I seem to recall that it was the 173
but am not sure. When I recently got a GeForce 8400 GS my driver
didn't change. I never thought to change it as it was working fine.

Then the RC upgrade played some tricks. ;-]

I do notice that the new Maverick, "Additional Drivers," reports only,
"NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current)," now. Could that
possibly be the new and improved 96?

Do you use the OS-included fetcher of proprietary software or install
the drivers manually?
