Thanks. I've actually done that most of that (missed the .kde* .qt*
.dbus* .mcop* though, so thanks for the hint along with the /tmp). I'll
work on it later today or tomorrow. I know it's in one of the .config
files, just need to narrow it down to which one.
I decided to mirror to another user so that in the event that I mess
something up in the process I have a working "tailored/mirrored" user
account. Besides, I figure that I need the practice in learning how to
do this gracefully... in the past I've just backed up & restored or
rsync'd when necessary. But in this case I just want the bulk of the
data and app config files.
The sftp method actually worked out pretty well: mounted the base via
Placed|Connect to server|SSH & that places it in ~/.gvfs. Then in
Nautilis I just did mass copies of the folders over the this /home. Over
course I need to change pertinant setup files to point to this /home
instead of the other, but I'm familiar with which ones needed changing
for the apps (prefs.js for SeaMonkey etc).
The good part was that Nautilus would remind me that I already had a
.local and similar on the target, so I skipped those in the process.
Otherwise I would have copied w/rsync & .local could very well have
contained a problem file.
