It would *appear* to be so - but not necessarily which is why the
alternate suggestions.
The bug in the ointment here is the statement that on his - I deduce
that it is a - laptop only Ubuntu 9.04 and Debian (what flavour is not
stated) "work", ie boot.
None of the other distros/versions boot.
But what is NOT mentioned anywhere is which of all of the above have
been or have not been burnt on the Windows XP desktop computer (and I'd
also like to know if XP has had all of the upgrades put thru to it) and
which have been either obtained from the back of magazines or given to
the OP by someone.
If both Ubuntu 9.04 and Debian were also downloaded and then burnt on
the XP and which boot on the portable then why not all the others?
Afterall, I cannot imagine the OP suddenly doing something radically
different when burning all the other distros/versons from what he did
when he burnt 9.04 and Debian. Of course this is the question the OP
posed to begin with.
Nevertheless, your suggestion to try burning at a slower rate is
certainly worth pursuing. At least this will eliminate another variable
in this puzzle.
