Maybe I missed "something essential"?

Either way, I'd recommend that he burn the CD's at a low speed (4x) and
then try. If you read his post regarding the CD's that work and those
that don't (the one that I replied to), it would seem to me that he has
an issue with the burnt CDs. Afterall:
