Nowhere in this thread do I see mention of exactly what network adapter
you are using. We know that you have a WARPSTAR Aterm WR8100N wireless
router. We also know that all works with a PCLinuxOS liveCD using the
passkey on the bottom of the router (which would indicate that the
router is set to default & probably WEP).

So, can you please advise what network adapter you are using? I know
that your laptop doesn't have a built-in wireless adapter (I have your
lshw info) & you state that you are plugging in the adapter, so it's
either PCMCIA or USB. Let's start there & then we'll work forward in
ensuring the adapter is: 1) being recognized, 2) the correct drivers are
loaded, and 3) ensuring that Network Manager et al is setup correctly.
