Beginner Q3: Is there a way of permanently unlocking the keyring?

I tried all recommended options.
None worked.
In a final "flight of inspiration" I used Synaptic to uninstall software
that had "keyring" in their names (4)
gnome-keyring
libgnome-keyring0
libpam-gonome-keyring I.O-cil
libpam.gnome keyring
after that more of half the software that used to be there was gone
and after rebooting the computer would not start any more (I tried
extensively everything I could think of)
also tried to put in the live-CD I burnt (set BIOS to boot from CD) =
did not work.
(I downloaded and burnt Ubuntu 9.10 twice, but the computer will NOT
boot from those CDs. It boots fine using 9.04 which I burnt in exactly
the same manner.)
Now, I am back to where I started and just reinstalled Ubuntu 9.04.
Is there any particular reason why this does not work?
Has anybody else this problem?
