Nautilus/Compiz - no longer launches File Manager, Recycle Bin, Desktop file icons

I'd definitely try that... If it doesn't work though, try reinstalling
dbus. just make sure to clear your cache first, and download fresh
copies of the packages, just in case.

Reinstalling these components is actually fairly simple and safe...
provided you don't power off in the middle of the update. Even if you
did, the damage would be recoverable, provided you aren't squeamish
about working in a command-line.
