[gnome] edit name of "Applications" menu?

Rather than do that, why not just install the 'Main Menu' rather than
use the 'Menu Bar'? Right click on a blank spot on the panel (you can
even use the bottom one & position 'Main Menu' to the left of the panel
like Win Start :-) and scroll down to 'Main Menu', click 'Add' then
'Close'. You'll then have a single button/icon with all of the same
menus that you have with the 'Menu Bar'. After you are comfortable with
using Main Menu instead, you can then remove 'Menu Bar' from your panel
(right click on Applications/Places/System) and select 'Remove from panel).
