I know you found a that tabbing through the apps works.

But if you want to try it again, here is what I suspect is happening:

 - Minimized, it would not show up in the area where currently running apps
are, like Firefox would

 - Instead, it would show up where other types of apps show up, like Pidgin,
NetworkManager/WICD,, Volume, smb4k

 - that section has sort of a left facing arrow head inside a circle

 - clicking on that icon allows you to show hidden icons that don't
otherwise fit


I would expect that the player would show up there.
