No. In KDE (and oS) anything minised would appear in bottom taskbar, but
here it is nowhere.
If I recall correctly, in Kubuntu Karmic if some other application was
opened, but not necessarily visible, in the same desktop, the desktop
icon would show an additional small window within the desktop icon.

I have both the top and bottom 'bars' to autohide (have always had
things this way since time immemorial). Is this what you mean? If so
then I autohide both.
