Flash player doesn't show up in plugins...

I presume that you have uninstalled all other versions of flashplugin that may be on your system before installing the one in question?  You might just go ahead and install the plugin as the message suggests.  What can it hurt since you don't have flash.

Not much I can add with my limited knowledge of Ubuntu.  I assume you have rebooted since installing the flashplugin and have added the medibuntu repo mentioned in one of replies. I do have the xulrunner entry in my update-alternatives file and many more for the other browsers I have installed on my 9.04 Jaunty 64 bit machine. My medibuntu repo in sources.list is:
deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ jaunty free non-free
Sorry, I couldn't be of some help as I'm using 64 bit Jaunty with the same libflashplayer-10.0.32.18.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz as you are.  Someone else with more knowledge and experience will need to help.
