Partition works ok...but now wireless internet

Assuming your using Network Manager; have you tried wicd ipo NM.  Works better for me on my wifi maching, Hardy. I'm using default NM on my wired machine, Karmic Beta.  You can try wicd by just installing it which will remove NM.  If doesn't work, revert back.  I would reboot after installing wicd if it doesn't recognize your wifi.  Many people use wicd because of issues with NM although the latest release seems to be better.  Not sure about the wifi part, though.  H TH,
